Brian Croasmun

Writer, Broadcaster,

retired Teacher,former Coach

Brian Croasmun began teaching in 1989 as a special education teacher at New Martinsville School. Three years later, he was transferred into a position of teaching reading to 7th and 8th graders, where he stayed for the next thirty years.

In 1988 he was a volunteer assistant football coach at his alma mater, Paden City High School, and has since been a middle school football coach, assistant high school baseball coach, middle school girls’ basketball coach, head coach of high school softball, head boys’ soccer coach and even spent two and a half weeks as a high school band director. However, he got the most satisfaction from coaching all of his kids’ youth sports teams he could.

In 2001, Brian was asked to fill in for a high school football radio broadcast and has never stopped. He has called football, basketball, baseball, softball, and soccer. He’s broadcast from the tiniest gyms sitting among the fans to Wheeling Island Stadium and the Charleston Civic Center Coliseum. He’s been on the call of hundreds of regular season games, playoff games, and even a state championship softball game. He once called a baseball and softball game at the same time!

He is also a graduate of the Institute of Children’s Literature, where his final project was the early draft of The Clemente Ball. He is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, along with West Virginia Writers, Inc.

Now retired as a teacher, Brian can focus his time and energy on his other pursuits and occasionally a game or two of pickleball .
